L’Esprit is a beautiful and unique equestrian development located just outside of Louisville, Kentucky. You could not find a more beautiful setting, with over 4100 acres of horse farms and beautiful homes, in the country. L’Esprit is in both Henry County and Oldham County. Henry County is a rural farming community and is home to poet laureate Wendell Berry. Wendell Berry was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2010 by former President B. Obama and the Poets’ Prize in 2000, as well as many other awards. Oldham County is also a great place to see and live. Oldham County was named the “Farm Tour Capital of Kentucky." Oldham County school district has one of the highest rankings in Kentucky, ranking in the top 4% of districts throughout the state which places them in the “Distinguished” category.

We are only 10 minutes from downtown LaGrange named “Kindness City” and is a “Tree City, USA.” A quaint town with an historic district, trains running down Main Street, lots of things do and great places to eat including locally owned restaurants and shops is worth the visit. Many people visit La Grange to watch the trains running through the center of Main Street.

L’Esprit has approximately 20 miles of private walking and horse-riding paths along Harrods Creek and throughout the development. Whether you have horses or just love being in a beautiful country setting, L’Esprit is a special place that you will not find anywhere else.

L’Esprit was developed in the mid-1980’s as an Arabian horse community. Over the years, the Arabian horse farms have given way to different breeds of horses and disciplines including thoroughbreds, hunter-jumpers, as well as endurance and dressage horses. There are working training centers such as Highpointe and La Croix Rehabilitation Center and many other large acreage farms. Many of the larger tracts have been subdivided into smaller residential tracts that range from 5 acres to over 500 acres. Some of the tracts are used for agriculture, some are owned by people that have their horses on their property and others are owned by those who want acreage and enjoy living in a pastoral equestrian community.

The L’Esprit Property Owners Association was officially incorporated January 6, 1986. The Board of Directors is elected by the LPOA members at the Annual Meeting. The Board meets on a regular basis to conduct business relating to finances, maintenance, and improvements. Board meeting minutes are posted on our website in the Members’ Area.
